About a hundred years ago, in the small village of Kottayi village,Chembrakulam Desom. The Tamil community people lived a simple life. One day, an elderly woman appeared at a random doorstep, carrying a statues of the goddess Amman. Desperate for water, she asked the family for help. The homemaker promptly brought her some water, but when she returned, the old woman had mysteriously disappeared, leaving only the statue behind.
Mariyamman Temple – Kottayi
Moved by the event, the family decided to keep the statue and began to pray to it. News of the statue’s presence and its reputed powers spread quickly through the village. Villagers who suffered from small pox began to seek the goddess’s blessings.
A roof tile merchant:- Parali Tiles company samy recognized the statue’s significance, urged the family to place it in a public space so everyone could benefit from its presence.He built a small temple dedicated to the goddess Amman. The temple soon became a place of pilgrimage, providing hope and healing to many.
